Actor/ rapper Fredro Starr easily lives up to his name. Born in Queens, NY, he began rapping with his cousin, Sticky Fingaz in the late eighties, early nineties. They then, along with Sonee Seeza, formed ONYX in 1991. Their first album, Bacdafucup was released in 1993 and went platinum. Onyx broke up in 1998 after the release of their album Shut ‘Em Down.
Starr ventured out on his own and while exploring a solo music career, built up a solid acting resume. With no formal acting training, Fredro eased his onto the small screen in a re-occurring role as Brandy’s love interest on “Moesha” and was featured in guest spots on “New York Undercover,” “NYPD Blue” and “Law & Order.” He also starred in the 2000 MTV film Save the Last Dance with Julia Stiles and such films as Light It Up, Spike Lee's Clockers, and HBO's Strapped. He will next star in the Warner Brothers/ Village Roadshow film, TORQUE with fellow rapper Ice Cube.
Starr's solo rap debut, Firestarr was released in January of 2001. A song from the album "Theme From Save the Last Dance," is also featured on the movie's soundtrack. In addition, Starr also runs his multi-faceted entertainment entity, OPM (Other People's Money). His latest project is titled “Don’t Get Mad, Get Money.”
